I purchased this to replace an previous Navisafe set that was missing the all-around light pole on a used dinghy that I had just got. The set that came with the dinghy was magnetic with magnetic bases. The forward mag mount was too weak to hold the light on our first night run and was brushed off into the water by a curious passenger. Unfortunately the light "puck" didn't float and went to the bottom. This set has some improvements over the magnetic mount. First is the new mounts are GoPro style which give you choices not only for the lights but for cameras too. They have changed up the locking pin pattern to a square tooth instead of a triangle tooth style. Which helps it lock in place easier. The pole is plastic and a touch flimsy. The jury is still out on that one. I can tell you that the glue on mount will not work on Hypalon boats and the adhesive pad does not stay adhered to the boat and (surprisingly) the mount itself. Avoid using this if you are not 100% it'll stay put. I was lucky that the boat had a glued on patch that worked with the front mount. As the actual locking head can be unscrewed from the glue patch that's included. I have yet to see this glue on mount anywhere else. The lights themselves; the all-around white light is crazy bright, like bad for your night vision bright. But, you can dim it by turning on the light with the push button on top and then pressing repeatedly until you reach an acceptable light level. The front nav lights turn on with green, red and white. The white facing backwards. This doesn't conform to US rules and I think it's for Jet Skis in other countries. No bother just press the button until you get to just nav lights. Finally, the storage box is nice but not water proof or even resistant. All in all it's a good purchase. It sure beats holding a flashlight or lantern when tooling around the marinas. One star for the front mount adhesive and weak feeling pole. Mike from the lifesaport blog
